Another APC Chieftain, Akinbiola, Rejects Aiyedatiwa’s Appointment

The rejection comes just after Aiyedatiwa announced the appointment of 344 Special Assistants in a statement released on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan.

Despite his inclusion on the list, Akinbiola, in a letter to the governor on Saturday, expressed his gratitude but pointed out that his present role at the federal level makes it impossible for him to accept the position.

He nonetheless reassured the governor of his unwavering loyalty to the APC and his support for the governor’s upcoming re-election bid.

In the letter, he wrote:

“Your Excellency, I appreciate the honour of being appointed as Special Assistant in your administration. However, I must respectfully decline due to my ongoing responsibilities as Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Senate President. I remain committed to the APC’s success and your victory in the next gubernatorial election.”

Akinbiola’s decision to decline the offer is seen as part of a growing trend among APC chieftains who seem reluctant to accept roles within Aiyedatiwa’s administration, stirring discussions within political circles about the governor’s leadership approach.
