He added that rescue operations were ongoing to rescue the remaining five siblings of the late Nabeeha.
The Nigeria Police Force says that an operation is ongoing to rescue the five siblings of Nabeeha, a female student who was killed on Saturday after she was abducted along with her sisters and father in Abuja on January 2.

Nabeeha, her five sisters and their father were abducted by kidnappers in their residence in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Nabeeha’s killing has sparked outrage in the country as Nigerians on social media have lamented the escalating insecurity in the country and started a donation campaign to raise money for the ransom to secure the release of her remaining five sisters from their abductors.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had earlier said that the police needed to get in touch with a member of the kidnapped victims’ family, stressing that the police needed information to carry out a rescue operation.

In a statement issued after Nabeeha was killed on Saturday, the Force spokesperson said that the Inspector General of Police had upscaled the Tactical Intelligence Teams of the police.

He added that rescue operations were ongoing to rescue the remaining five siblings of the late Nabeeha.

Adejobi, however, noted that the “sensitivity of the situation necessitates discretion, and as a result, specific details are being kept confidential to avoid compromising the ongoing rescue operations”.

He said, “In the wake of the abduction of six young girls in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, it is vital to state that the Police Force has already initiated a comprehensive plan of action.

“The Force Headquarters is diligently coordinating efforts to address this and prevent any further occurrence, as all hands are on deck to rescue the victims.”

“The NPF is actively engaging and contacting individuals crucial to the rescue operations and investigation. The objective is not only to bring perpetrators to justice but also to intensify efforts in rescue operations for victims still in captivity.

“Furthermore, recognizing the psychological impact on affected families, the Police are encouraging open communication with their operatives to provide support, information, and assistance to mitigate the psychological warfare imposed by kidnappers on the relatives and loved ones of their victims,” he added.
