Nigerian customs officer completes epic bike ride to Belgium

The Nigeria Customs Service has honoured the extraordinary achievement of Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Akpevwe Ogboru, popularly known as Tracta 2, who completed a 35-day motorbike journey from Nigeria to Belgium.

Ogboru, who embarked on her journey on August 1, 2025, covered approximately 10,265 kilometres, crossing two continents and ten countries before arriving at the Nigerian Embassy in Brussels at exactly 12:47 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the National Public Relations Officer for the Comptroller-General of Customs, Abdullahi Maiwada, the expedition, themed “Ride for Women Inclusivity and Cross-Border Research,” was designed to promote gender inclusivity, empower the girl child, and foster cultural exchange.

“Her extraordinary journey marks a bold demonstration of courage, resilience, and purposeful advocacy,” the Nigeria Customs Service said in a statement.

The Service described Ogboru’s feat as a symbol of strength and determination, particularly for Nigerian women breaking barriers in diverse fields. Her arrival at the embassy was met with jubilation, reflecting national pride and admiration for her resilience.

Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, commended her groundbreaking effort, saying:

“Assistant Comptroller Ogboru’s accomplishment stands as a beacon of inspiration to Customs officers, Nigerians, and the global community. With determination and vision, boundaries can indeed be transcended.”

Ogboru’s journey not only promoted inclusivity and research but also strengthened bilateral ties and projected a positive image of Nigeria internationally.

As she continues her onward journey back to Nigeria, the NCS reaffirms its support for initiatives that “promote resilience, innovation, and inclusivity,” while encouraging more Nigerians to undertake bold, nation-building endeavours.
