TRIBUTE TO A COMPATRIOT: FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI (1942 – 2025)
On behalf of myself, Prince Emmanuel Aderosoye Fadola, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifedore Local Government, Ondo State, and an aspirant for the House of Representatives, Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, as well as my political team TEAM DERO, I express our profound grief over the passing of Former President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s Military Head of State between 1983 and 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, will always be remembered for his firm stance against corruption and his efforts in repositioning Nigeria’s economy and security apparatus.
Since the announcement of his passing on Sunday, 6th July 2025, tributes have poured in from both within and outside Nigeria as people reflect on the life and legacy of a leader who left a remarkable mark on our nation’s history.
We commiserate deeply with his immediate family, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the entire nation on the loss of an illustrious and patriotic Nigerian. We particularly extend our heartfelt condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the people of Daura in Katsina State, his hometown.
President Buhari will be remembered as a man of integrity, unshakable simplicity, spartan discipline, and unwavering commitment to principles. His leadership style reflected the values he upheld as a decorated military officer, former head of state, and twice-elected president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He was a progressive and visionary leader who believed in Nigeria’s greatness and was a tireless advocate for the underprivileged. It is our belief that his loyalty and leadership would have continued to shape the APC and the national political space had he remained active. His firm stance on discipline and loyalty would not have tolerated political betrayal or ingratitude within the party.
We urge Nigerians to cease from denigrating the memory of this statesman. Like every human, he had his shortcomings, but his love for Nigeria was unwavering. We call for a moment of national sober reflection as we mourn his departure—regardless of varying opinions on his leadership.
Let this moment serve as a time for us to collectively reflect on his contributions to national development, democratic advancement, and governance.
May the soul of Former President Muhammadu Buhari rest in perfect peace.
