‘I Was Paid €2000’ —Italy-Based Courier Confesses After Arrest With Tramadol At Lagos Airport

ANigerian man based in Italy, Edobor Ambrose Ali, has confessed to being hired for an all-expenses-paid drug trafficking mission after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted him at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, with over 14,000 tramadol pills concealed in winter clothing.
According to the NDLEA statement signed by its spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, Ali was intercepted on Saturday, June 14, in collaboration with Aviation Security personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), while attempting to board an Air France flight to Italy.

According to the NDLEA, in his confessional statement to investigators, “Ebodor said he lives in Italy where he was hired and sent on the all-expense-paid trip to Nigeria to courier the drug consignments to Milan, Italy for a fee of 2000 Euros.”
The interception is part of NDLEA’s sustained operations aimed at curbing international drug smuggling networks and dismantling courier rings using Nigerian airports.
Chairman/CEO of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), lauded the efforts of the MMIA command and other units for recent seizures and arrests, praising “compatriots in all the commands across the country for pursuing a fair balance between their drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts.”
