FG to Launch Consumer Credit Scheme for 400,000 Youths in July

President Bola Tinubu has announced a new consumer credit program to empower 400,000 young Nigerians, including NYSC members. The scheme will start in July through the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP).
Tinubu made the announcement during his Democracy Day speech to the National Assembly. He said CREDICORP has already helped over 100,000 Nigerians, including 35,000 civil servants, access loans for homes, vehicles, and essentials.
The president also highlighted economic improvements, including:
– GDP growth of 3.4% in 2024 (4.6% in Q4).
– Reduced inflation and stable food prices.
– Increased foreign reserves and a stronger Naira.
Additionally, the government is laying fibre optic cables nationwide to improve internet access and boost businesses and education.
Tinubu emphasized job creation and skills training for youths through programs like NELFUND. He also stated that Nigeria is working toward food sovereignty and a 7% GDP growth target.
