Coalition of Ondo State Indigenes Urges Governor Aiyedatiwa to Respect Ongoing Court Process on UNIMED Vice Chancellorship
The Coalition of Ondo Indigenes wishes to respectfully appeal to the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to stay all actions relating to the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor for the Ondo State University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo City, pending the outcome of the ongoing appeal at the Court of Appeal, Akure Judicial Division.
As law-abiding citizens and stakeholders in the Ondo project, we firmly believe that respect for the rule of law remains the cornerstone of democracy. It is on this note that we call on the Governor to allow the legal process to run its full course in the interest of justice, equity, and peace.
We acknowledge and commend Governor Aiyedatiwa’s personal experience as a beneficiary of judicial due process, especially through the recent affirmation of his electoral mandate. This places him in a unique position to uphold the same legal principles that continue to sustain our democracy.
We, therefore, urge the Governor to demonstrate leadership by ensuring that no administrative action is taken that may prejudice the pending court matter in Appeal No: CA/AK/103/22. Any such move would not only undermine judicial authority but also raise concerns of contempt of court, which could further complicate the issues at hand.
We remain committed to the progress and development of Ondo State and trust that the Governor will act in accordance with the law and uphold the integrity of the ongoing judicial process.
Signed:
Comrade Jonathan Obatola
