Hon. Faisal Lawal Receives Prestigious Leadership Award in Abuja

By Adeleke reporters online news

Hon. Faisal Lawal, Special Assistant to former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been honored with the “2025 DDBPI Excellence in Leadership Award” by the De Dynamic Builders Progressive Initiative (DDBPI), a prominent Abuja-based NGO.

The award was presented to Lawal in a brief ceremony held at his office in Abuja on Thursday. The DDBPI, an NGO known for its advocacy on dynamic leadership, youth mentorship, and policy analysis, recognized Lawal for his outstanding contributions to leadership across the country.

During the award presentation, representatives of the NGO, including Mr. Eric Adile Iroajugh, Engineer Anthony Adeola, and Mr. Paul Mamman who led the delegation emphasized Lawal’s exceptional leadership qualities and his dedication to fostering unity among Nigerians from all regions. Mr Mammam highlighted that the award was based on merit after years of observing his work and leadership style.

One of the key qualities noted by the NGO officials was Lawal’s openness, acceptance of all people regardless of background, and his belief in a unified Nigeria. Mr. Mamman remarked, “I’ve known him for a long time, and even now, I don’t know his tribe because he believes in one Nigeria. He is a true nationalist. If all leaders were like Hon. Lawal, Nigeria would be a better place.”

The award was a testament to Lawal’s continuous efforts in ensuring that his leadership is inclusive, with a focus on national unity and sustainable development. The NGO also emphasized its commitment to working with leaders who prioritize the well-being of the people and the country.

Hon. Lawal, who has had a distinguished career, previously served as Special Adviser to former Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State. He also served in various capacities in Kaduna State under former Governors Namadi Sambo and the late Patrick Yakowa. Lawal is currently a board member of the Nigerian Maritime Academy in Oron, Akwa Ibom State.

In his acceptance speech, Lawal expressed his deep gratitude to the NGO for the recognition and reaffirmed his dedication to nation-building. He acknowledged that the lack of quality leadership is one of Nigeria’s major challenges but emphasized that his leadership capabilities were shaped by the training and mentorship he received from his mentors over the years. He particularly credited former Governor Okorocha for giving him key responsibilities that shaped his leadership approach.

Lawal urged the DDBPI to continue its advocacy efforts, noting that organizations like theirs play an essential role in encouraging leaders to work harder for the nation’s progress. He called for more NGOs to take on such noble roles to inspire positive change in Nigeria.
