Governor Suspends Traditional Ruler Indefinitely Over Alleged Corruption
The suspension followed an investigation into a series of allegations levelled against the traditional ruler, who previously served as the district head of Daware in the Fufore Local Government Area.
Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru, Emir of Daware, has been suspended indefinitely by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, for alleged corruption, maladministration, breach of security, confiscation of farmlands, and creating a leadership vacuum due to prolonged absence from his domain.
The suspension followed an investigation into a series of allegations levelled against the traditional ruler, who previously served as the district head of Daware in the Fufore Local Government Area.
The action was conveyed in a letter dated April 25, 2025, signed by the Permanent Secretary of Chieftaincy Affairs, Adama Mamman, on Sunday.
Part of the letter read, “Following a series of complaints made against you for maladministration, corruption, breach of security, confiscation of farmlands and creating a vacuum that has led to all traditional issues remaining unattended, as a result of your non-staying in your domain, I am therefore directed by the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, to suspend you from office indefinitely.”
The letter stated, “You are, therefore, requested to hand over all government properties in your possession to the district scribe pending further actions.”
Governor Fintiri has consistently reiterated that his administration’s fight against corruption would not spare any sector or institution within the state.
