ARIGIDI/ERUSU AKOKO RAINSTORM:
Chairman Owolabi Visits Affected Communities
In response to the recent rainstorm disaster, the Executive Chairman of Akoko Northwest Local Government Area, Ondo State, Hon. Esan Abiodun Owolabi, paid a sympathy visit to the affected communities of Arigidi and Erusu Akoko.
The equinoctial storm, which struck on the evening of Sunday, April 6th, 2025, caused significant destruction—blowing off rooftops and rendering many residents homeless.
Describing the incident as an unfortunate and saddening development, Hon. Owolabi expressed deep concern over the extent of the damage. During his visit to the affected areas, he empathized with the victims and reassured them of the government’s support.
In his address, he stated,
“As part of my oversight responsibilities, I felt deeply concerned upon hearing the news of this devastating rainstorm that affected Arigidi, Erusu, and other parts of our local government. I had to personally come and assess the situation to show solidarity and understand the needs of my people.”
The affected residents have appealed to the Ondo State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to urgently intervene, as the situation has overwhelmed their capacity to cope.
Chairman Owolabi assured the communities that the government will not abandon them in this difficult time and that efforts will be made to bring them relief as quickly as possible.
The Chairman and his political entourage also visited other impacted areas such as Ekiteji, Agbaluku, Ilupeju Street, and Imo, all in Arigidi Akoko and Erusu Akoko, to offer words of encouragement and hope to the people.
