No Senator Has Achieved What Al-Makura Has Done For Nasarawa South.
Senator Umar Tanko Al-Makura has been rated as the best senator to have ever represented Nasarawa South District in the Nigerian Senate.
A mentee, Mallam Muhammad Atose disclosed this on Thursday while responding to a comment credited to one Ibrahim Zaki from Awe who rated the former lawmaker below his successor, Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Zaki, an aide to the immediate past Executive Chairman of Awe Local Government Council, Usman Umar, said despite Onawo unfulfilled promise to his community, he’s still better than Al-Makura who represented the District between 2019 and 2023.
Responding, Muhammad Atose described the comment as a beer parlor criticism as none in the history of the senatorial district has achieved what Al-Makura has done for Nasarawa South.
“Without mincing words, no Senator, in the history of Nasarawa South, dead or alive, has achieved what Senator Al-Makura has done for Nasarawa South, particularly in Awe LGA during his period at the 9th Senate. The writer and the gullible public may wish to be reminded that Senator Al-Makura, while at the Senate, from 2019-2023 constructed five blocks of three classrooms each (totalling 15 classrooms) in GSS Awe and one kilometre of asphalt road in Awe town where the writer hails from.
“Aside this, Senator Al-Makura also constructed one kilometre asphalt road in Azara town and a block of two classrooms in Gidan Asha, near Azara. Al-Makura has also extended electricity supply from Azara town to Wuse and Kekura in Awe LGA,” Atose, stated further.
Atose reminded Zaki of a Facebook post in 2022 where he commended Al-Makura for facilitating the implementation of various projects in the Awe and assured him of their unflinching support for his re-election in the 2023 general elections.
“The same writer (AA Zaki), in August 2022 has took to his Facebook page to appreciate Senator Al-Makura for what he has done to the people of Awe LGA as he didn’t fail to list the projects to his knowledge as embarked upon by Senator Al-Makura for the people of Awe LGA.
“These are aside other laudable projects embarked upon by the Senator during his period of representation at the Senate. All these projects are visible for everyone to see, including the ‘Doubting Thomases’ like the writer (AA Zaki). But for the purposes of hatred and campaign of calumny, the writer will not mention them,” Atose who served Al-Makura as Senior Legislative Aide, SLA, added.
Senator Al-Makura also has to his credit the bill that led to the establishment of the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, FULTH among others.
