SENATOR UMAR TANKO AL-MAKURA REMAINS ‘FATHER OF ALL’ IN NASARAWA APC – HE IS THE TRUE FACE OF APC.
Talk of a cat with nine lives, talk about Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has proven to be the proverbial cat with nine lives as he continues to survive political treachery and campaigns of calumny ahead of the 2023 general elections. In politics, the ability to survive and triumph over treachery and back stabbing, are the hallmark of success and prowess. The ability to circumvent evil plots and political subterfuge, distinguishes between the top notch politician and the greenhorn.
From 2011 to date, Senator Al-Makura has survived countless moves to derail him politically. From the various vendetta from the then ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), when at the peak of the campaigns leading to the 2011 general elections, he was invited to Abuja to answer questions over allegations of sponsoring the pelting of the convoy of then president Goidluck Ebele Jonathan who visited Lafia. His campaign Director-General, Ambassador Musa Ilu, was arrested and taken to court on charges of political brigandage.
While being governor, Senator Al-Makura equally survived schemings by the members of the PDP dominated state House of Assembly to impeach him, with the members finally relocating to Abuja from where they prosecute their nefarious acts but to no avail.
Now, as the country inches towards the 2023 general elections, the enemies within are at it again. Scared of his towering political prowess, traducers are once again embarking on a campaign of calumny against the person of Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura. These political liliputs are employing the agency of the social media in their attempt to deceive the gullible who may fall prey to the devilish plots and political machinations. They are circulating a faceless, unacknowledged document parading injurious allegations which they ascribe to the person of Senator Al-Makura.
Going through the claims, it’s easy for any discerning mind to see through the tissue of lies as the nothing in the allegations could stand the test of facts.
First, this imposters are accusing Senator Al-Makura of anti-party activities and that he is the major financier of the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Abdullahi Maidoya. This is not only farfetched but a height of desperation. This is akin to a builder destroying the house he helped built.
According to the faceless group, Nasarawa Democratic New Alliance, Senator Al-Makura allegedly decided to go against his political party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), because he lost the position of the National Chairman of the party, lost being appointed Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, as well as his angst against the emergence of Mohammed Al-Makura as the House of Representatives candidate of the APC for Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency.
Ordinarily, these allegations in themselves are a negation of facts and reality and would therefore illicit no reaction whatsoever from any political weight in the class of Senator Al-Makura. In fact, this piece must not be misconstrued as a response from the former governor as Senator Al-Makura will not descend so low as to even consider such level of political timidity and naivety.
As far as the APC is concerned in Nasarawa State, Senator Al-Makura remains the father of all. Any politician that is today enjoying privileges under the platform of the APC must acknowledge that Al-Makura facilitated the democratic space for him to enjoy such privilege. Singlehandedly, Senator Al-Makura groomed and nurtured the party to occupy its present pride of place but at the state and national levels. Al-Makura has more in stake in the APC than any pretender who may want to come in through the window.
To allege that Senator Al-Makura will finance a political neophyte, with little or no political pedigree to challenge His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule is most ludicrous and unpatriotic, especially against a person like Senator Al-Makura, who gave his all to bring the APC to its present position.
It’s rather pathetic, that those who vociferously stood against the decision of Senator Al-Makura to support the incumbent governor to succeed him in 2019, are the same people working hard now to cause disaffection between these two great leaders.
Regarding the matter of the National Chairman of the party, Al-Makura has since accepted his fate and moved on with his life. Being the politician that he is, Al-Makura has since moved on, seeking new vistas and conquering new frontiers. He is not the type of person who hold grudges and who may resort to vindictiveness.
Al-Makura is a politician that is skillful, experienced and possesses intelligence and integrity. Al-Makura is honest, God fearing. Being the effective politician that he is, Senator Al-Makura is not only trustworthy and reliable but captures the essence of truth, sincerity, even as he is known to practice what he preaches.
The allegation that Al-Makura is ruing his lost chance to be appointed director general of the PCC, is not only false but an evil machination meant to deceive the gullible. The originators of this tale are merely clutching at straws to save their sinking political profile. Obviously, scared by the towering profile of the former governor, who is seeking for another term at the National Assembly, members of the faceless group are embarking on a slander against the person of the Most Distinguished Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
Also, that Al-Makura will kick against the candidature of no less a person than his son, Hon. Mohammed Al-Makura, is again the height of desperation and naivety. The younger Al-Makura is not contesting for the same seat with him and will not pose any challenge to him politically.
Indeed, being the humble leader that he is, Al-Makura is self-effacing and appreciative. He recognises that he can’t do it alone, such that he is thankful in knowing the value of those working with him, as his style of leadership recognises that success is shared. Al-Makura will certainly work alongside all candidates of the APC to deliver the party during the 2023 general elections.
These are certainly trying times and those who feel they cannot win their elections through fair means, are attempting to do the impossible by seeking to malign the person of political heavy weights like Senator Al-Makura. Like the cat with nine lives, Senator Al-Makura with surmount and triumph over these campaigns of calumny directed against his person, especially as the 2023 general elections approaches.
