Kogi Government Confirms Over 200 Communities Submerged By Floods, Calls For Help
The state government has called on the Nigerian government and international donor agencies for immediate intervention.
Over 200 communities in Kogi State have been submerged as flooding continues to ravage parts of the state, leaving nearly two million people displaced.

Addressing journalists at Kotonkarfe, Kingsley Fanwo, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, warned of a looming “humanitarian crisis.”
He stated, “The National Emergency Management Agency cannot afford to wait any longer,” as the situation in the state has become “overwhelming.”
We are in a dire emergency situation at the moment and this is sad. The flood disaster here is devastating and over 200 communities have already been submerged and close to two million people displaced,” Fanwo added.
He also noted that nine out of the 21 Local Government Areas had been affected.
“We have opened about 68 IDPs camps but they can’t hold that massive population. Schools, hospitals and other infrastructure have been destroyed completely.”
