Otunba Afolabi Oyediran, a prominent chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has issued a stern warning to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to refrain from interfering with the upcoming Ondo State election. Speaking to People’s Lens reporter at his residence this morning, Otunba Afolabi expressed concerns over INEC’s alleged role in aiding election rigging, particularly in the recent Edo State election.

He emphasized that INEC must ensure the electoral process is free from bias and allow the electorate’s votes to count by carrying out their statutory duties without blemish on election day ¹. Otunba Afolabi stressed that achieving a free and fair election hinges on INEC and security officials resisting bribery. He also urged INEC to cease engaging with political parties and politicians who attempt to influence the commission’s decisions, thereby undermining the people’s will.

As the Ondo State governorship election is slated for November 16, 2024, Otunba Afolabi’s warnings aim to ensure a transparent and credible process. With INEC’s scheduled timeline for the election already in place, all eyes are on the commission to deliver a fair and unbiased election.
