LIFTING OTHERS IN BUSINESS AND POLITICS: GOVERNOR AYEDATIWA”S INCLUSIVE VISION

One of the most remarkable qualities of His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa is his consistent dedication to lifting others up. In both business and politics, Ayedatiwa exemplifies the qualities of a leader who empowers the people of Ondo state and those around him, enabling them to achieve their goals. He stands out for his ability to recognise the potential in people and nurture their growth, whether as successful businessmen or influential political figures.

Before entering politics, Ayedatiwa had already demonstrated these leadership qualities as a teacher and businessman. In his teaching years, he shared his knowledge generously, creating a positive impact on the lives of countless students. His experience in the business world honed his strategic thinking and solidified his understanding of economic empowerment. He helped many to thrive in business, offering support, mentorship, and opportunities that enabled others to achieve financial independence. This experience in business also sharpened his managerial and financial acumen, which has proven invaluable in his political career.

His life can be divided into three stages that significantly contribute to his role as governor today: teaching, business, and politics. As a teacher, Ayedatiwa developed communication skills, patience, and the ability to understand the needs of others. These traits enable him to connect with people on a personal level, making him an approachable and empathetic leader. In business, he mastered the art of risk-taking, strategic planning, and wealth creation, all of which are essential in governance. His business acumen has enabled him to manage the state’s resources prudently, ensuring economic development while empowering the private sector. In politics, Ayedatiwa’s open-hearted approach has fostered collaboration within the APC and beyond. His ability to unite people from different backgrounds and political affiliations is a testament to his inclusivity and vision for collective growth.

One of the ways Ayedatiwa has lifted others in the political arena is through his numerous appointments of Special Senior Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) across all 18 local governments and the newly created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Ondo State. These appointments have not only empowered individuals but also created a sense of belonging and political relevance among party members and the entire Ondo State. Ayedatiwa’s actions have made many feel politically recognised and relevant, creating a network of loyal supporters and building a stronger APC base in Ondo State. Through these appointments, Ayedatiwa has succeeded in drawing many political decampees from opposing camps, adding to the growing ranks of the APC. This influx of political players has further solidified his leadership position and earned him respect within the state’s political landscape.

As a Christian, the Holy Bible teaches that those who lift others up are blessed in return. Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” This principle reflects the leadership of Ayedatiwa, whose generous spirit in empowering others has paved the way for his continued political success. By helping others reach their full potential, Ayedatiwa positions himself for greater achievements, both spiritually and politically. In Matthew 23:11, it is written: “The greatest among you will be your servant.” Ayedatiwa’s servant-leader approach mirrors this biblical teaching. His focus on lifting others up is not just a political strategy but a reflection of his faith, which influences every aspect of his leadership.

Throughout history, several political leaders have gained recognition and success by empowering others. In Nigeria, leaders like Pa Obafemi Awolowo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have emphasised the importance of mentorship and empowerment within their political circles, securing loyal followings and strengthening their legacies. Globally, figures like Nelson Mandela in South Africa and Barack Obama in the United States became known for empowering their people. Mandela’s legacy of lifting South Africans out of apartheid’s grip and empowering them to reclaim their rights made him a revered global icon. Similarly, Obama’s inclusive leadership, focused on empowering marginalised communities, garnered him wide-spread respect and long-term influence in the Western political landscape.

As Ayedatiwa looks toward the upcoming gubernatorial election on November 16th, 2024, his track record of lifting others up will be crucial in securing victory. His leadership style has already attracted a significant political following, with many decampees and party loyalists rallying behind him due to the empowerment they have experienced under his tenure. The support he has garnered through political appointments, business empowerment, and inclusive governance will play a pivotal role in his electoral success. Furthermore, Ayedatiwa’s spirit of collaboration within the APC and his ability to unify diverse factions will strengthen his position, not just in Ondo State but potentially on the national stage in the future. His focus on uplifting others positions him for continued success and influence within the Nigerian political landscape, as leaders who empower their people often enjoy long-term loyalty and support.

Conclusively, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa’s ability to lift others up, combined with his experience in teaching, business, and politics, positions him as a unique and influential leader. His leadership style, deeply rooted in empowerment and collaboration, not only strengthens the APC but also sets the foundation for a promising political future. Through his continued efforts to uplift others, Ayedatiwa is not only securing his re-election prospects but also shaping a legacy of leadership that prioritises people and progress.
