Police Declare Eight Enugu Residents Wanted After Att@ck On Community, K!lling Of Officers
The suspects who are from various communities but resident in Igga, Uzo-Uwani LGA are alleged to have been involved in murder, acts of terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, arson and illegal possession of firearms.
The Enugu State Police Command has issued a wanted notice for eight individuals resident in Igga community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, in connection with some offences.
The suspects who are from various communities but resident in Igga, Uzo-Uwani LGA are alleged to have been involved in murder, acts of terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, arson and illegal possession of firearms.
Their whereabouts are currently unknown, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The exact details of the allegations and the individuals’ involvement are not specified by the police in a statement issued on Monday through the Command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe.
SaharaReporters reported that the wanted notice may be connected with the attack in Igga community on May 3, 2024 in which five persons including two policemen and three local security agents were killed.
Following the development the police and Nigeria military mobilised in a reprisal attacks burnt over 30 choice houses, over 30 motorcycles and vehicles with other properties worth millions in the community
The police also arrested the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Herbert Ukuta, Festus Okonkwo and six other leaders of the community accusing them of conspiracy, concealing information, being members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant wing Eastern Security Network (ESN) and terrorism.
After detaining them for over month, and after the traditional ruler could not pay N1.5 million the claimed was used to ‘feed’ the monarch while in custody, he arraigned on federal offense before an Enugu Magistrate Court which has no jurisdiction. They were subsequently, remanded in the Enugu Maximum Custodial Centre.

“Ugwu, Anthony Chimezie “m” (a.k.a Monkey). Age: 21. Home address: Iheakpu, Igbo-Eze South LGA, Enugu State. Last known address: Igga, Uzo-Uwani, LGA, Enugu State.
“Ogbuabor, Malachy Chizoba “m” (a.k.a “Ogbanta”). AGE: 36. Home address: Ohodo, Igbo-Etiti LGA, Enugu State. Last known address: Igga, Uzo-Uwani, LGA, Enugu State.

The statement added, “the above-named persons in the attached photographs and respective descriptions have been Declared Wanted by the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force in the case of conspiracy to wit: murder, terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, arson, and unlawful possession of firearms.
“A handsome monetary reward will be given for credible information received on each of them.”
