Adeogun decries looming famine in the South West, Advises Governors and other Political Office holders to give priority to food Production.

The CONVENER of Nigeria Political Summit Initiative Hon. (Chief) Adewale Adeogun has decried the exorbitant cost of food especially stable ones in recent time in the South West and the looming famine that could come as a result of this Artificial Scarcity and price hike.

Adeogun noted that sales and prices of Foods in the Region are now being determined by Visitors and Strangers in the Region.
He specifically noticed that prices of commodities like pepper, tomatoes, onions, yams are now being determined by our Northern Traders while Rice, beans and even processes and sales of Garri are being taken over by our South Eastern Traders who have almost taken over the
traditional trading capacity of our people. According to him, majority of the Traditional landed properties left for farming by our Forefathers are being sold off outrightly for yet to be determined purposes. Worst case are the massive purchases of large parcels of land by multinationals like Chinese and Indians. It’s disheartening that our youths are no longer willing to live and work in the rural areas where they can be more productive.

He therefore advised our State Governors and other Political Office holders in the Region to convene an emergency Summit where solutions could be sought for this impending calamity. He also urges our Leaders to prioritize Assistance to real Farmers who could change the fortune of food supplies in the Region.

Adeogun, whose Political Summit Initiative NPSI recently went round all the States in the Region to sensitize Political and traditional Leaders on the need to be more proactive to safeguard the heritage of our Forefathers. He congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and the Various State Governors on the Anniversary of their one year in office and the Democracy Day observed on June 12 just as he sought for peaceful Election later in the year in Ondo State. On One year in the Office of PBAT, he asked for patience and prayers from NIGERIANS.
