Earlier today, I made a presentation at the 2024 Biennial Convention of the National Council for Women Societies with the theme: Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress.

Flanked by other high profile dignitaries such as the First Lady of Imo State, Barr Chioma Uzodinma who represented our mother and First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, I engaged our Women on the need to align with our re-invented approach towards achieving economic emancipation for our Women.

I also informed the gathering that the Ministry has pursuant to this new approach, distributed sustainable empowerment equipment across 15 States in the first phase with other states being considered in the next phase of distribution. We distributed industrial/sewing machines, grinding machines, Rice Milling and Cassava processing machines to encourage our Women towards the path of wealth creation and leadership roles.

Its worrisome that only 10% of Women own properties in Nigeria and if we must step up our game into the nation’s political space, our women should scale up their performance in agriculture and business ventures to give them the voice to play expected roles in national growth.

On a final note, I urged our Women to take advantage of the opportunity offered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Renewed Hope agenda designed to invest in Women to accelerate progressive growth in Nigeria
