Earlier today, I witnessed the inauguration of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu as Global and National Stop TB Champion by the Global Stop TB Partnership, Geneva in recognition of her pivotal role in the fight against Tuberculosis. TB is one of the most persistent and deadly infectious diseases that plague the world but it is heartening to note that the Nigerian government is making substantial progress in the fight against Tuberculosis under the effective coordination of the Federal Ministry of Health. I am also optimistic that with today’s investiture of the First Lady, we will no doubt witness improved partnerships, consolidated efforts, and upscaled interest in the fight against Tuberculosis in Nigeria.
