Just In : EFCC Arrests Barber, 11 Other Suspected Fraudsters In Akwa Ibom Raid
The Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, in a sting operation on Thursaday, apprehended a barber and 11 individuals suspected of internet-related fraud in Akwa Ibom State.
This was disclosed in a statement and photos shared on the official X handle of the EFCC on Friday.
According to EFCC, the raid was based on credible intelligence on their involvement in illegal activities.
The statement read, “Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Thursday March 14, 2024, arrested a barber, and eleven suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
“They were arrested following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related offences.
“Items recovered from them include sophisticated mobile phones, laptops and WiFi routers.
The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
Similarly, PUNCH Online reported on March 7 how an herbalist was areested alongside 48 suspected internet fraudsters by the EFCC in Kogi State.
It also reported on Wednesday that operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC arrested 45 suspected internet fraudsters in the Ikorodu area of the state.
