It is now illegal for “Health and Care Workers” to bring their dependents to the UK.
On Monday, March 11, the UK Home Office announced this via its official X handle.
The UK government stated that the action was a component of its strategy to lessen immigration to the nation, noting that in the year that ended on September 23, approximately 120,000 dependents were brought to the UK by foreign caregivers.
The post reads, “From today, care workers entering the UK on Health and Care Worker visas can no longer bring dependants.
“This is part of our plan to deliver the biggest ever cut in migration.”
Adelekereporters recalls that the UK Home Office declared on Tuesday, January 2, that it would begin enforcing its policy prohibiting Nigerian and other international students from bringing dependents into the country through study visas.
The regulations are being implemented in the midst of what is now widely referred to as “Japa syndrome,” or the flood of Nigerian immigrants into the UK and other nations.
