Just In : Four suspected ‘Cult members’ arrested by Police operatives, firearms recovered

Operatives of the Lagos Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists and armed robbers said to have terrorised the Ijora Badia and Abule-Ado areas of the state.

The suspects, Mayowa Shitu, 29, Jamie Alarape, 26, Bashiru Munsuru, 29, and Lekon Akintunde, 29, were apprehended on February 16, around 8am by officers attacjed ti the command’s tactical team

It said two locally made pistols, three life cartridges, eight phones, one iron cutter and charms were recovered from the suspects.

Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest of the suspects, adding that they would be charged to court.

He said operatives of the command also smashed a suspected one-chance syndicate at Alausa on Saturday.

Hundeyin said the operatives acted on an earlier complaint from a victim about the activities of the criminals who usually packed around Olusosun in Ojota.

He said they packed there under the pretense of taking passengers to their destinations only to move them to unknown destinations where the victims are fleeced of their valuables.

“The surveillance team of Olusosun outpost, under the division, mobilised around the area and arrested one Okoro, 45, and one Patience, 42.

“One of the victims was able to identify them as those who dispossessed her of about N37,000 two weeks ago.

“All suspects would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations,” he
