A Recap of My Official Engagements For The Week
On my appointment as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative and Party Affairs, I met with the Honourable Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oladiji Olamide to explore areas of strengthening the synergy between the legislature and the executive arm of government. The Assembly members reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring smooth passage of bills that would improve on the well-being of the people of Ondo State.
Shortly after my inauguration on Tuesday, I held a meeting with representatives of the Progressive Democrats (PRODEM), a socio-political movement committed to promoting good governance, to discuss their proposed areas of collaboration with the present administration in the state on youth empowerment through CNG conversion and Jatropha farming – a major source of renewable biofuel. Later in the evening, the leadership of the Ose Students Association of Nigeria (OSESAN) and the Ose Youth Progressive Movement Initiative paid a solidarity visit to me. They were led by Amb. Bright Ojo Eniafe, the Vice President (South West) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
The delegation, which included the National President of OSESAN, Comr. Ajibuwa Imoleayo; the Senate President, Senator Obasaya Monday; and the PRO of Ondo State NANS JCC, Comr. Alabi Johnpaul, alongside other vibrant student leaders lauded the Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for appointing a seasoned and accessible leader into such a strategic position.
The students and youth bodies pledged to work with other critical stakeholders to reenact the resounding victory recorded in the November 16, 2024 governorship election where Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa won convincingly in all the 18 Local Government Areas come 2027.
The Chairman of the Ose Youth Progressive Movement Initiative, Hon. Oluwaseun Ogunniyi (Aditu), and the Publicity Secretary, Comr. Okeowo Eniola, were also part of the team.
I commended the student and youth bodies for their sustained support for the Aiyedatiwa-led administration. He reaffirmed the commitment of the present government to youth-friendly policies, empowerment initiatives, and the active inclusion of young people in governance and decision-making processes.
Earlier on Wednesday, I held a strategic meeting with the Chairman, Commissioners, and management of the Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission. The engagement was aimed at strengthening institutional synergy and enhancing effective discharge of it’s official responsibilities.
The Chairman of the Commission, Rt. Hon. Dare Emiola Francis, alongside Commissioners Hon. Idowu Pius Adebusiyi, Hon. (Barr.) Oladejo Bernard Adeleye, Rt. Hon. Malachi Adeniyi, and Hon. Ola Oguntimehin, commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for my appointment describing it as the best fit for such a critical position. They further presented key challenges encountered by the Commission and sought my intervention.
Responding, I reaffirmed that the House of Assembly and the House of Assembly Service Commission remain central to my work plan. I assured them that their requests would be tabled before the Governor for appropriate action.
Other senior officials present at the meeting included Mr. Babatunde A. Olowogorioye, Secretary to the Commission; Mr. Akinola Taiwo, Director of Finance and Administration (DFA); and Mrs. Ogungbure Olasimbo, Director of Budget and Planning.
On Thursday, I met with the State Coordinator and State Secretary of the Conference of De-Registered Political Parties In Nigeria (CDPPN) Ondo State Chapter, Hon. Rotimi Akindejoye and Mr. Olu Adeniyi Jones respectively on how to bring them onboard having shown much interest to join the Tinubu re-election movement in Ondo State under the leadership of His Excellency, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
I, thereafter, attended a meeting of APC stakeholders from across the wards in Ondo West convened by the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Land and Housing, Engr. Olawoye Ayorinde Abiola, FNSE, FNICE at Bliss World Hotels, Ijapo Estate, Akure. The stakeholders reaffirmed their confidence in the leadership of the Governor, Hon. (Dr. ) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
In my remark, I appreciated the unique mobilization effort of the Commissioner and for promoting Mr. Governor through his various initiatives while thanking the stakeholders for their continued support for our party, the APC. I also commended the stakeholders for the recent rally held in Ondo town to drum support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Engr. Olawoye Ayorinde Abiola, FNSE, FNICE thanked the Governor for re-engineering the party by appointing a versatile and resourceful person as the Special Adviser on Legislative and Party Affairs.
On Friday, I held a meeting with a group of former Councillors (2016-2017) during the Mimiko administration who have expressed their willingness to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) because of the various developmental strides of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
And yesterday, I accomplished His Excellency, the Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to Oka-Akoko to grace the elevation ceremony to the prestigious Council of Elders (Igoke Agba) of the Kabiyesi, Oba (Dr.) Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, OON, the Olubaka and Paramount Ruler of Oka Kingdom and other notable sons of Oka. It is a celebration of God’s grace, longevity and royalty.
