APC Aggrieved Aspirants Declare Support for President Tinubu
Aggrieved aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Ondo State have formally declared their renewed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing improvements in security, the stabilising exchange rate, and a significant drop in food prices as clear indicators of the administration’s impactful reforms.
The Forum also commended the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his consistent support and interventions on behalf of its members. They particularly acknowledged his role in uplifting several party faithful, including Hon. Tiamiyu Fatai Atere, Member of the Ondo State House of Assembly; Hon. Thalis Apalowo; Prince Adewale Alaofin of the NDDC; and many others who have benefited from his goodwill.
The Forum encouraged the Minister to continue amplifying their concerns at the federal level and applauded his track record of empowering committed party members.
Speaking on the strength of the group, the Forum’s coordinator, Hon. Agunloye, disclosed that the body comprises over 250 former House of Assembly aspirants, 67 former House of Representatives aspirants, and 24 former Senate aspirants across different election cycles.
“For every politician, interest is number one, but my interest is the public interest,” Agunloye said. “The security we are enjoying in Ondo State is commendable. I am benefiting from it, and everyone is benefiting. We are supporting President Tinubu because we know he can lead us. We can see food prices dropping, we can see the exchange rate crashing downward — that is encouraging.”
Also speaking at the gathering, Hon. Tiamiyu Fatai Atere, Member representing Akoko North-West Constituency 1 in the Ondo State House of Assembly, assured the Forum that their grievances would be conveyed to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Atere, who recalled being an aggrieved aspirant himself before securing victory in 2023, noted that both he and the governor understood the frustrations of neglected party loyalists and were committed to improving inclusion.
“I was once an aggrieved aspirant before winning in 2023. My leader, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was also an aggrieved aspirant before becoming deputy governor and now governor. There is a cordial father-and-son relationship between me and the governor. I will relay their voices to him, and I trust he will listen,” he stated.
The Forum also used the meeting to draw the attention of the governor to key issues affecting its members and the party at large. They further extended appreciation to Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo for his continued empowerment initiatives and urged him not to relent.
In a solemn moment, the group announced the loss of three of its dedicated members: Hon. Jerry Ojamami (Irele LGA), Hon. Owolala (Odigbo LGA), and Hon. Otuja (Akoko North-West LGA). They were honored for their loyalty, dedication, and contributions to the party.
The Forum urged members across the state to remain steadfast, stressing that President Tinubu has shown goodwill to Ondo State by appointing two ministers from the state, among other recognitions. They emphasized that he fully deserves massive support for a second term in 2027.
