The Adamawa state police command has arrested six applicants seeking recruitment as police constables.
The state police public relations officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje disclosed this on Tuesday, January 23.
Nguroje stated: “Six applicants were apprehended during the screening exercise with suspected forged documents and are currently under investigation.”
He explained that the screening exercise will continue till the 29th of this month when a total number of 29,848 applicants from Adamawa State are expected to have been screened.
The Nation reports that the Command had last Friday, January 19, 2024, announced the arrest of four applicants over fake results, meaning that two additional suspects were picked up between that day and now.
Adamawa is on record to be the second state with the highest number of initial applicants for the ongoing nationwide recruitment exercise for prospective police constables.
Kaduna led the pack with a total of 40,272 applicants against Adamawa’s 36,398; while Borno State had the third-highest number at 32,048.
The records further have it that Anambra had the least number of applicants -1,664; while Ebonyi had the second least number of 2,132; with Lagos state having the third smallest number of applicants: 2,324.
The figures however represent the original number of applicants before many were dropped due to overage and some other considerations before the physical and certificate screening began.
