Court Halts PDP National Convention, Orders Inclusion of Sule Lamido in Chairmanship Race
The Federal High Court has issued an order suspending the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention until former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, is granted the opportunity to purchase the chairmanship nomination form, undergo screening, and participate fully in the contest for the party’s top position.
In its ruling, the court directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to refrain from monitoring or observing the convention until the PDP complies with the order.
The injunction follows a suit challenging the party’s internal processes ahead of the convention, which had been slated to elect new national leadership.
