Segun Oni Felicitates Oyebanji on APC Ticket, Commends Tinubu’s Leadership
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni, has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 election in the state.
Chief Oni, in a statement issued in Abuja, described Oyebanji’s endorsement as an expression of trust, confidence, and acceptability by party members across the state.
He noted that Governor Oyebanji’s style of governance had strengthened unity among political actors and stakeholders, earning him the confidence of the people.
“I have no doubt that Governor Oyebanji’s impressive performance and people-centred policies have already paved the way for victory in the coming election,” Oni said. “His administration has been inclusive and innovative, transcending party lines in the delivery of democratic dividends. His second term is assured because a winning team is not changed in the middle of the game.”
The former governor urged APC members and supporters in Ekiti to work together towards ensuring a resounding victory for Oyebanji at the polls.
He further advised the governor to sustain his grassroots-focused governance approach and to consolidate on the achievements recorded during his first term.
“Governor Oyebanji has brought stability and steady development to Ekiti. I urge him to maintain the tempo by addressing areas requiring urgent attention in his next term. His consensus emergence by the APC reflects the collective trust of the people, and I am confident the electorate will reaffirm that confidence during the election,” Oni added.
Chief Oni also called on Ekiti residents to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as “a visionary and courageous leader steering Nigeria’s economy toward stability and growth.”

Governor Oyebanji was on Monday ratified as the APC consensus candidate for the June 20, 2026 governorship election during a special nomination exercise held in Ado-Ekiti.2026
