Akoko Northwest Chairman Launches Health Initiatives, Honors Chairperson as ‘Akoko Northwest Net Crusader’

As part of efforts to improve healthcare and promote wellness in the community, the Executive Chairman of Akoko Northwest Local Government, Hon. Esan Owolabi, has officially launched a comprehensive health initiative targeted at combating malaria across the council area.
The launch ceremony, held in Irun Akoko, brought together dignitaries including traditional rulers, local government officials, and community stakeholders. In his remarks, Chairman Owolabi emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare and urged residents to make full use of the distributed Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs), cautioning against selling them.
Commending the initiative, Oba Samuel Agboola, the Monarch of Irun Akoko, lauded the Chairman’s people-oriented projects and prayed for his continued success in office.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the prestigious ‘Akoko Northwest Net Crusader’ Award to the Council Chairperson, Hon. Mrs. Grace Owolabi, by the Ondo State ITN Distribution Campaigners. The award recognizes her dedication to promoting healthy living and ensuring the effective spread of the ITN campaign message throughout the local government area.
In her acceptance speech, Hon. Mrs. Owolabi expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to intensify awareness efforts so that the benefits of the initiative reach every community.
The ITN distribution program forms part of the council’s broader public health campaign aimed at preventing mosquito-borne diseases and safeguarding the well-being of residents.
