Iran’s three top military commanders have reportedly been killed by the Israeli military in a new wave of airstrikes that rocked the Islamic Republic on Saturday.
Among those killed is Saeed Izadi, a senior official responsible for coordinating Iran’s military ties with Hamas.
According to Israel’s Defense Ministry, Izadi was targeted in Qom, south of Tehran.
Two other senior commanders from Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards were also killed in separate strikes.
The development comes as Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar claimed the ongoing aerial campaign had already set back Iran’s nuclear program by at least two to three years.
Speaking in an interview with German publication Bild, Saar insisted that Israel remains committed to dismantling what it perceives as a growing nuclear threat.
“By our assessment, we’ve already delayed their ability to develop a nuclear bomb by at least two or three years,” Saar said. “We will do everything within our capacity to remove this threat.”
The conflict, which intensified on June 13 when Israel launched a massive military offensive against Iranian facilities, has led to repeated waves of retaliatory strikes between the two countries.
Israel maintains that its preemptive actions were necessary, citing intelligence that suggested Iran was nearing the development of a nuclear weapon.
Israeli warplanes reportedly struck the Isfahan nuclear facility for a second time, alongside missile storage and launch sites in central Iran.
