2027 POLL: ONDO LABOUR MOVEMENT, PROFESSIONALS GROUP PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR AMG
* Vow to Mobilise Votes for Tinubu
Ahead of the 2027 Presidential election, the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) in Ondo State has gained significant support as the Labour for Good Governance (LGG) and Eagles’ Table (ET), a group of professionals from diverse fields, pledged their allegiance to the AMG.
The groups met separately with AMG leadership, led by State Coordinator Asiwaju Muyiwa Asagunla, at its Akure office on
Monday.
They commended the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who founded AMG, for his notable contributions to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
LGG, a socio-political labour organisation with structures across Ondo State, comprises 21 affiliated groups, including workers, artisans, traders, and farmers’ unions.
The LGG President, Comrade Solomon Adenegan, who was accompanied by Vice President Comrade Femi Bosede and Secretary Comrade Olasukanmi Olubadejo, to the strategic meeting, revealed that the group conducted five months of research before deciding to join AMG.
“We are aware of several pro-Tinubu groups in Ondo State. However, before deciding to join AMG, we conducted thorough research and found that AMG is the only truly vibrant group among them,” Adenegan said.
Adenegan, who was a former workers’ union leader in the state, said they are committed to mobilising various worker unions to support President Tinubu’s re-election.
“We are happy to work with AMG. Our group will not let you down. Whatever the responsibility you give us, you can go and sleep with your two eyes closed because we won’t let you down,” he assured.
Also, the Eagles’ Table, led by popular Akure-based businessman Mr. Demola Ogunbodede, expressed its group’s commitment to good governance and pledged to canvass votes for President Tinubu.
Ogunbodede, joined by some ET members including Mr. Damilola Adamolekun and Mr. Bode Eniaiyejuni, stated that the group would complement AMG’s efforts.
In response, AMG Coordinator Asiwaju Asagunla noted that this was not the first time Minister Tunji-Ojo had formed a support group for President Tinubu, recalling that the minister’s group was among those recognized by the President in 2023.
Asagunla emphasised that AMG, officially inaugurated early last year, aims to surpass the President’s 2023 election results in Ondo State by securing at least 90 percent of the votes in 2027.
An NDDC board representative from Ondo State and a key AMG leader, Hon. Otito Atikase praised both groups for their commitment to AMG.
“We are very happy to have you on board. With your background, we know that you will proves your worth in this groups. Like I have always said, it not about quantity but quality. I know you have the goodwill among the people of the state to mobilise votes for our President,
“In the 2027, our target is to secure 90 percent votes for the President, and with your commitment, I am very confident this is achievable. I can assure you that won’t regret working for the AMG,” he added.
